Joy, For a while (I don't believe it is still true), in America, all canned pumpkin was actually squash! So I would go ahead and try the substitution of the squash for the pumpkin in the recipe.

Grateful

It was a challenging week on many fronts. My measurements are mixed results, and my weight stayed the same. I am grateful.

It began with a quite weekend home. Then Monday involved a huge effort to get fallen leaves to the curb in time for free city collection. My neighbor even loaned me his blower for the day. I worked from 10 to dusk. In the process I re-strained my shoulder, and had irregular eating. This week, Tuesday and Wednesday were my nonstop days. I again took wise choices with when I… Continue

Healthy Foods You Can Say “YES’ To

From the Tufts Health Nutrition Newsletter (www.tuftshealthletter.com)

HARDLY A DAY GOES BY without the news media reporting some food that's been found to be bad for you. One day it's processed meats; the next, its baked goods made with trans-fatty acids. Faced with this litany of "don'ts," you can start to wonder whether any food is OK to eat...

In fact, scientists know of a whole cornucopia of healthy foods you can choose from. Not only… Continue

Mixed results

The week included a wedding celebration. I did okay in the eating category, could have been much worse, but could have been better. I took small portions, but didn’t stop eating if what I took wasn’t fabulous. It was more like “clean my plate club”.

In addition, both Thursday and Friday were non-stop days away from home. I took wise foods with, but was met with birthday cake and such. Also, it made fitting the exercise in more of a challenge. I did still do the interval exercise every ot… Continue

Another good week

I came up with a new mantra, as a result of listening to the tapping session on positivity. That is “Allow my passion to move me to action.” For me the challenge is to keep focused on my passion. But when I do, I move in a downstream way, with ease and flow.

So the best kept part of my plan this week was still doing the 30 minutes of interval exercise every other day. I moved back up to level 4 on the exercise bike, and kept the energy expended between 59 and 72 kcal. Also, I did at leas… Continue

NEW YORK (Reuters Health Tuesday, October 27, 2009) - If you've lost a lot of weight and want to keep it off, banishing high-fat foods and getting rid of your TV sets might help, along with eating less and staying active, new research hints.

Researchers found that people who had lost weight and had maintained a normal weight for 5 years were much more physically active than obese people who hadn't lost weight and were also being better able t… Continue

Thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to receiving my EFT lessons. I have been using EFT for a few months, but I seem to have much more success with others, than for myself. I am hopeful that being guided and part of a community using EFT for the same purpose will help me clear my blocks (whatever they are) so that I can experience the same success I have seen with others. Thanks again for creating this space, and welcoming me into it.

Hi,
I think I'm doing this wrong. I'm not good at the blog thing. Yes, I did finally change the pic. When I signed up I had to put something and that was the only pic I could find. Sorry that wasn't even me. Now, that I have one of the real me, I can feel better about that. Thank you for everything.

Hi Dr Nili and llana, what a lovely welcome.!thanksx Today is my first day i am feeling very positive and Ive leapt out of bed at 6 am to get started.I recently nursed my mum through cancer and she died.My life has been on hold to take care of her for 8 months. It was very hard but good stuff came out of it.I slowed down and began to appreciate the smaller things in life that make me happy. We got reconciled and i let go of a lot of emotional baggage which kept me in bed for nearly 20 years with cripling depression. Its all over. This is my time to live and to live life to the full in a fit healthy body.I am enrolling at the gym today. Here we go.I havent looked at the eft yet but Ive done it before and really enjoyed the results. It is my intention to post every day at least once.my support and love goes to all tmy fellow members have a great day on the way Anne x

Hello,
Thank you for the warm welcome. This really sounds cool. My problem with posting stuff is I seem to always be in a hurry. I ususally don't work away from home but have had to the last two weeks. So when I look on the internet it's really fast. I will try to answer things more next week when I will be home for a few days and can really check this out. thanks again.

About

Very Important Question

One of the most important questions you can ask is
“Does this suit my intentions?”

The word “this” refers to any choice you are making that affects your goals. In the store, when you have those cookies in your hand, ask yourself, “Does buying these suit my intentions?” If you are thinking of watching a movie rather than joining the EFT session, ask yourself “Does this choice suit my intentions?”

Let your higher self answer the question and make your best choice.

The more you ask the question, the more you will be guided by that smart voice that helps you maintain your commitment to yourself.

Gary Craig, EFT founder on what is EFT?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)
is a method to release negative feelings naturally.
It is an emotional form of acupressure.
With your fingertips, you tap certain energy points on your body while you are "tuned in" to your problem.

Gary Craig, the founder of EFT:

"I hope this doesn't sound too grandiose, but I've been doing energy healing work since 1991 and my jaw still drops at the results. I've lost count of the number of phobias, panic/anxiety attacks, traumatic memories, guilt, grief and physical ailments that have been elegantly relieved (often in minutes) by this procedure. Even though EFT violates just about every conventional belief out there, the results remain remarkable. EFT isn't perfect, of course. We don't get 100%. But it usually works well and the results are sometimes spectacular. It often works where nothing else will.

We are still learning why EFT works so well. It centers around the profound effects of the body's subtle energies using the theory that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. Accordingly, EFT is an emotional form of acupuncture except that we don't use needles. Instead, we tap with the fingertips to stimulate certain meridian energy points while the client is "tuned in" to the problem.

The subtle energies that circulate throughout the body have been largely ignored (until recently) by western scientists. As a result, our use of them for emotional and spiritual healing has been sparse at best. With EFT, however, we consider these subtle energies to be the front running cause of emotional upsets. As a result, we generate results that are FAR beyond those of conventional methods."
